Fr. Luc Simons (the Netherlands) studied Environmental Protection at Wageningen Agricultural University (specialization: ecotoxicology). After graduation he answered God’s call and pursued his vocation by starting his priestly formation at the Diocesan Seminary of Rolduc (Kerkrade, Netherlands). He was ordained priest in 1997, has served in several parishes and is a collaborator of the diocesan department of Marriage and Family. In 2016 he earned his Masters in studies on Marriage and the Family from the International Theological Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family, Austria (www.iti.ac.at) and in 2018 he received his Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the same institute.
Since 2008 he has been teaching Theology of the Body for various groups of people that are interested in St. John Paul II’s teachings. In 2018 he published with several other authors the book Openheid voor het leven. Bewust en verantwoord ouderschap volgens Humanae Vitae (Openness to Life. Conscious and Responsible Parenthood according to Humanae Vitae).
This year he has started teaching sexual ethics and Theology of the Body at the diocesan Institute for Religious Sciences in Den Bosch.
