Fr. Kevin E. O’Reilly OP (Ireland) currently teaches moral theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, Rome (Angelicum University). Prior to entering the Dominican Order in 2011, he taught philosophy at the Milltown Institute, Dublin, from 2003 to 2010 and also spent a semester at Strathmore University, Nairobi, in 2010.
Fr. Kevin holds doctorates both in philosophy and in theology. The former, completed at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, was in the area of Thomistic aesthetics. He later published a revised version of this work, Aesthetic Perception: A Thomistic Perspective (Dublin: Four Courts Press, 2007), which has received very favourable reviews. The latter, completed at the Thomas Instituut/Tilburg University, Netherlands, and published as The Hermeneutics of Knowing and Willing in the Thought of St. Thomas Aquinas (Utrecht/Leuven: Thomas Instituut/Peeters, 2013), is a synthesis of systematic, moral, and mystical theology.
In addition to these works Fr. Kevin has published in a range of journals including but not limited to Nova et Vetera, The Thomist, Angelicum, International Philosophical Quarterly, American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly, Review of Metaphysics, New Blackfriars. His major specialization is the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas. Christology, law, virtue, moral psychology, conscience, sexual ethics, anthropology, and aesthetics, are among the areas that feature in his research.
